Rio Grande, P.R.
The Rio Grande which is made up of 9 barrios or districts was named after the majestic river that flows through its lands, the Rio Grande River. It is also known as La Ciudad del Yunque (Yunque City) and was founded in July 25, 1840 by the Deriderio Brothers and Quilimaco Escobar. Present-day Rio Grande is abundant in agriculture such as fruits, plants, vegetables and cattle. The largest PGA Tour Open is hosted every March. And if you're not there for the festivities, its visitors can take a 10-minute drive to the only tropical rain forest within the United States National Forest System.
